Abstract

Pedestrians are some of the most vulnerable road users in traffic accidents. Therefore, in the context of the worldwide development of urbanization and motorization, vehicle-pedestrian collisions and, in particular, pedestrian injuries resulting from these accidents continue to represent a major problem in the public health sector around the world.

The main objective of this paper is to study the kinematics and dynamics of pedestrian impact, in order to highlight some features of the reconstruction of road accidents involving pedestrians.

In this study, the data used was obtained from crash tests that has been performed using a dummy fitted with a triaxial accelerometer in the head. These data has been used to assess the injury criteria of the pedestrian.
